Rules of a Website

These are a set of rules / guidelines that I use in all website development. I use them to remind me what I need to ensure in the development of a good website.

Content is King on a site; Quality graphics are queen.

There is no point having an attractive site, if it does not attract visitors.
It should take no more than three clicks to get to any information on a website. Test your website now!
Make sure the website conveys a consistent image with the organisational brand.

You need to be able to think like a customer. Ask yourself would I visit this site often? Would I buy products and services from this company?
Make sure your website provides benefits for the visitor. Visits and repeat visits make sales.
One of the main reasons visitors don’t stay long on your site is if it takes too long to load. Meaning it takes too long to appear on their computer screen.
